Chauffeur in a dark suit opening a car door for an arriving guest with a suitcase — private Rhodes airport transfer

Transfers

From the arrivals hall to your villa door. Handled.

You step out of the arrivals hall at Diagoras after a long travel day. The terminal is hot. Six other charter flights have just landed. The car-hire queue is twenty deep and the taxi rank is fifteen, with no fixed price on either. Your kids are over it. You have an hour and a half of driving still to do before the villa key turns.

This is not the moment for logistics.

We arrange airport transfers at a fixed price, confirmed in writing before you fly. Your driver tracks your flight and meets you in the arrivals hall by name. Luggage in the car, you in the back seat with the air conditioning on, on the road to the villa inside ten minutes of landing.

What's included

The full service, from booking to your villa door:

  • Flight tracking. Your driver monitors the inbound flight from the moment it leaves origin. If you're early, the driver is early. If you're late, the driver is still there.
  • Meet and greet in arrivals. The driver waits inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name. You don't need to find them; they find you.
  • Luggage handled. Loaded in by the driver, unloaded at the villa door. You carry your phone and your passport.
  • Direct to the villa. No stops, no detours, no "quick visit to my friend's restaurant on the way." If you want a supermarket stop or a quick errand, ask in advance and we'll arrange it.
  • Air conditioning. Always running before you get in. Non-negotiable in the Rhodes summer.
  • Child seats and boosters included where requested. Legal requirement for kids under specific ages in Greece, and the driver brings the right one.
  • No waiting charge if your flight is delayed. The price is the price.

What you provide: your flight number, your villa address, the size of your party, and any specifics about luggage, child seats, or pets.

The Diagoras experience, briefly

Worth knowing before you fly, especially if it's your first time on the island:

  • Diagoras is small. One terminal, one arrivals hall, one departures area. Easy to navigate. Hard to get lost.
  • Peak-season arrivals can be slow. Multiple charter flights from northern Europe sometimes land within thirty minutes of each other in July and August. Baggage reclaim can take forty-five minutes on a bad day. Allowed for in our pricing; not paid as a waiting fee.
  • Arrivals exit straight onto the kerb. Once you're through with your luggage, you're outside in under thirty seconds. The driver is on the kerb or just inside the doors.
  • The drive to most villas runs counterclockwise. Northwest from the airport into Rhodes Town, then south along the east coast. Coastal road most of the way once you're past the city. Scenic, not stressful.
  • Late flights from the UK and Northern Europe land between 10pm and 1am most nights. Standard arrival window. We staff for it.
  • Early departures back home leave between 4am and 7am most mornings. Same pattern in reverse. Early pickups are normal.

How long the drive actually takes

Approximate transfer times from Diagoras to the main villa areas. Traffic in July and August adds ten to twenty minutes on the busy stretches, particularly the Rhodes Town bypass between five and seven in the evening.

  • Ialyssos and Ixia (northwest coast): 10 to 15 minutes
  • Rhodes Town and the Old Town fringes: 20 to 25 minutes
  • Faliraki: 25 to 30 minutes
  • Afantou: 30 to 35 minutes
  • Kolymbia and Tsambika: 35 to 45 minutes
  • Charaki and the central east coast: 45 to 55 minutes
  • Lindos and the immediate area: 50 to 60 minutes
  • Lardos and Pefki: 60 to 70 minutes
  • Kiotari: 70 to 80 minutes
  • Gennadi: 75 to 85 minutes
  • Plimmiri and the deep south: 90 minutes plus
  • Prasonisi (southern tip): about 100 minutes

For arrivals after 10pm to villas south of Lindos, a transfer is genuinely the right call. Driving an unfamiliar coastal road in the dark with tired kids in the back is not how the holiday should start.

Vehicles, matched to the group

The right vehicle depends on the size of the party and the luggage volume:

  • Sedans and small estates for couples and singles with normal luggage
  • Family-size estates and MPVs for four to five passengers
  • Eight-seater minivans for groups of five to seven with full luggage, or families with strollers, car seats, and bigger bags
  • Sixteen-seater minibuses for larger groups
  • Coaches for groups beyond sixteen, weddings, or split families travelling together

For groups travelling on the same flight, one vehicle is usually right. For groups landing across multiple flights and times (common on bigger reunions and weddings), we coordinate two or three pickups with the same partner. Drop the early arrivers at the villa, return for the later flight, and so on.

Tell us the group size, luggage volume, and how many flights are landing. We'll size the vehicle correctly the first time.

How we arrange it

We arrange transfers directly with vetted local drivers we've worked with for years. Not through a third-party platform that takes a cut and obscures the price. Not through a booking aggregator that hands the actual driving off to whoever is available.

The booking:

  • Fixed price in writing before you travel, by villa destination and group size
  • Driver assigned ahead of arrival, with name and contact details shared by WhatsApp the day before
  • Flight number and arrival time confirmed; driver tracks the flight from departure
  • One contact for changes. If your flight is delayed, your gate changes, your luggage is held, your group splits, your terminal moves — one message to us, we handle the driver
  • Return transfer to Diagoras can be booked at the same time. Same fixed price, same partner, confirmed in writing

Pricing, plain

Fixed by destination, not by meter.

  • The price you're quoted is the price you pay. Same for a 4am pickup or a 4pm arrival. Same in July as in October.
  • No fuel surcharge. No "night driving" supplement. No extra for luggage.
  • Card payment is processed through the booking, so you don't carry cash on landing day.
  • A receipt is issued on request.

A taxi from Diagoras can work out fine for short hops (Rhodes Town, Ialyssos). For anywhere south of Faliraki, the maths of a fixed-price transfer is usually better than the metered taxi, even before factoring in the convenience of a driver waiting by name.

Return transfers

Easy to overlook at booking time, harder to arrange on the morning of.

A few honest notes:

  • Book the return when you book the arrival. The same driver is usually available. The price is set together.
  • Departure pickup time is typically two and a half hours before your flight departs, more in peak season. The driver advises based on the actual flight time.
  • Early departures (4am to 7am) are normal, well-staffed, and not subject to a surcharge.
  • One vehicle for the group, or multiple if the group is splitting flights, sized the same way as the arrival.

When you might not need a transfer

Three honest cases where the transfer isn't the obvious answer:

  • You've hired a car directly at the airport. Some guests prefer this even with our deliver-to-villa option. Fair call if you're a confident driver arriving in daylight.
  • You're staying close to the airport in Ialyssos or Ixia. A taxi is a few euros and ten minutes. Transfer is still worth it for late arrivals or families, but for a daytime arriving couple, a taxi works fine.
  • You're already being collected by family or friends already on the island. Self-evident.

For most other arrivals, especially anything after dark, anything with kids, anything to a villa south of Faliraki, and anything during peak season, the transfer is the right call.

A few practical notes

  • Child seats and boosters. Greece requires booster seats for children under twelve below 1.35m tall, and child seats for under-fours. Tell us the ages and we'll bring the right ones at no extra cost.
  • Pets. Most drivers accept pets in a carrier with advance notice. Tell us when you book.
  • Multiple stops. A supermarket stop, a chemist run, or picking up a key from another address can be arranged in advance. On-the-day requests depend on the driver's schedule.
  • Luggage volume. Tell us upfront if the group is travelling with golf clubs, bikes, surfboards, or excessive luggage. We size up the vehicle.
  • Wheelchairs and reduced mobility. Accessible vehicles are available with advance notice. Tell us at the time of booking.
